You would notice a pattern in the above phrases. The first group has phrases that all start with the article "y". You would also notice that all the nounsit modifies are singular. The rule is: Thearticle agrees in number with the noun it modifies, and "y" is singular.

You would notice too that the second grouphas phrases that start with the article "di".You would also notice that all the nouns itmodifies are plural. This is because, the plural form of "y" is "di".

You will also notice that "y" and "di" don'thave any equivalent word in English.
